downward venting

The bathroom ceiling is vaulted and slopes down to the exterior wall. Is it possible to vent downward to the outside and if so, do you recommend a particular product?
Thank you for your question on bath and ventilation fans. Some of our exhaust fans can be installed in a sloped ceiling, but we normally recommend installing the duct work going up instead of down. If the duct work is vented upwards the back draft damper will still work properly, but if it is ducted downwards, the back draft damper will stay open and be of no use. In these types of installations you would want to use an inline damper of some sort or a wall cap with a built-in damper.

How difficult is it to replace the damper?

I found my damper (Part# B08088378) in the back yard. My kitchen was professionally installed and I was wondering if it is practical for a novice like myself to reinstall it. I am not sure why it came loose, it appears undamaged.
Thank you for your question on the model PM500 kitchen exhaust system power module. The damper for the PM500 is normally installed right on top of the unit, before you install the duct work. You would need to have access to the top of the unit to reinstall it.

How do you adjust the blower rpm?

We have two of these in the house and one blower operates at a much faster speed than the other. The wiring diagram shows a two-position rocker switch that I suspect sets the speed. But I cannot find these rocker switches. Can you tell me if I am correct about the rocker switch function and, if so, where they are located.
Thank you for your question on the model QTX100HL exhaust fan/heater/light/night light. The exhaust fan does not have different speeds. If one fan is running much slower than the other, you would have a problem with the fan motor. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.

Can drywall anchors be used for mounting this hood?

Studs don't line up with mounting holes. Was wondering if I can use anchors and drill additional holes where stud is. I am trying to avoid ripping out the wall.
Thank you for your question on the model EW5630SS range hood. The only installation procedure we recommend is explained in the installation instructions. You would need to construct wood wall faming behind the range hood to securely hold it on the wall. We would not recommend using drywall anchors because of the weight of the hood.

Exterior Blower for Broan Elite Range Hoods

10" Duct Transition

The inlet opening collar for 331H is 10.25" diameter but standard ducts are 10" exact.
How do I connect and fill the 1/4" gap? Taping over the gap seems too flimsy. There was no information in the instruction Manual.
Is there a transition or should I use a mounting clamp.
Thank you for your question on the model 331H externally mounted exhaust fan. The duct collar on the 331H should fit a standard 10” duct work. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.

Will this kit work for model 686?

I have two bathroom fans and on the inside the plate that holds the motor and fan blade has "model 686" stamped on it.
Thank you for your question on the model 690 exhaust fan upgrade kit. The 690 is not designed to be used with the 686. You can get replacement parts for the 686 through the “Shop for Parts” link at the top of our web site page.

Lowe’s 230 CFM, 30” wide Undercabinet Range Hood in Black

The light for the fan button blinks when the fan is off.

What does this mean and how do I clear it up?
Thank you for your question on the model CJD130BL range hood. The fan light ring will flash when it is time to clean or replace the filter, based on your individual use pattern. To reset filter clean reminder indicator, touch and hold the fan button for three seconds.
