This exhaust fan fit perfectly behind our new wood hood enclosure. It has plenty of cfm's to remove all odor and smoke from the stove. It is quiet considering what it does. On high it's a bit noisy but one has to expect that. The installation was quite easy but I am pretty skilled so it may be harder for someone that is not skilled. The light is ample and this fan is 3 times better and quieter than our old fan that was almost as loud as a vacuum cleaner.
For a quality kitchen hood exhaust fan at a reasonable price this exhaust fan can't be beat.
I would suggest you use this fan behind one of the hood enclosures suggested by Broan.
Also in my past experience with Broan they back their warranties. Their customer service is also excellent.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Where cani buy rep laments parts for pm390 (e.g. Lights cover, overall cover..)

The light cover for my unit broke and I wanted to be able to replace it. I'm also interested for where I can by the overall cover (2 pieces... Cover and filter)
I would check with Broan they have really great customer service.

Is there a minimum height above the PM 390 unit for the ductwork to pass through the wall

If your ductwork passes through a wall you will need a 6" galvanized elbow so at least 4"-6" so no actual minimum other than your elbow.

What is the recommended height for installation. If power pack is installed in a cabinet is a liner required?

You probably want at least 24"- 28" above your stove and your kitchen wall cabinets are to narrow to accommodate the fan. Your wall cabinets are 12" deep and the fan is 20"

how can I use the PM390 in non-ducted installation with no cabinet soffit?

I wouldn't even try unless it exhausts to your attic but then you will get grease and condensation on everything

Fan noise

I have a new house and the builder installed the pm-390-hs unit. It is very loud and doesn't seems to pull very little air. Is there anything that I should check ? Is the fan running backwards ? Something isn't right with it, if this is how it is I will be replacing it with a quite unit. It hard to hear anyone when I'm cooking and it is running.
Please let me know.
Thank You
Make sure he connected an exhaust duct to the fan and it is free of all obstructions,
